Tubeless Sealant
FAQ Tubeless Sealant
Why do we use red dye in the tubeless fluid?
When the liquid is at rest we will clearly see a part of the liquid in pink color and a part of the liquid in white color. This indicates that the anti-puncture liquid is not well mixed, and thus forces us to shake it before introducing it into the wheel. It is important to shake the tubeless liquid well so that all the ingredients of the product are mixed.
What is tubeless liquid or anti-puncture liquid?
Tubeless liquid is a chemical product usually based on latex, either synthetic or natural, which is introduced inside the wheel to seal punctures.
It is normally used in tubeless tires, although there are also tubes with tubeless sealing liquid. When a puncture occurs, the tubeless sealing liquid is dragged by the pressure difference towards the outside and solidifies with the contact of the air, plugging and sealing the hole.
It is intended to seal multiple punctures that occur during an outing, for example brambles, small nails etc. It is not intended to seal large cuts or holes, in which case the cold vulcanized tubeless kit would be used.
This type of punctures is very common to suffer them during the practice of cycling, happening several times in the same outing depending on where we ride. Depending on the formulation, it will seal holes and larger cuts more or less quickly.
There are very dense liquids that can seal larger holes but act more slowly, we can even see liquids with solid particles inside to help sealing.
On the other hand a less dense liquid if the composition is of quality will seal super fast and plug most of the cuts and holes that we can suffer.
In Migou Bcn we manufacture a very fluid liquid to obtain a super fast sealing, since most of the punctures that are suffered are usually small, produced by brambles, spikes or nails.
We use a very high quality formulation to seal cuts of considerable size at a very high speed, we use a mixture of synthetic latex for greater durability inside the wheel, extending the fluid change. And natural latex for faster sealing speed.
With this we manage to lose as little air as possible and the rider will not even realize that he has suffered several punctures, since he will not have to stop to replace air.
What is the best liquid for tubeless?
There are basically two types of anti-puncture bike fluids, those based on natural latex and those based on synthetic latex.
Tubeless fluid based on natural latex
Natural latex has the property of converting very quickly into rubber on contact with air and sealing the puncture, making it perfect for riding in areas with brambles and spikes.
This beneficial property for sealing punctures is also a disadvantage since it will gradually form a rubber inside the tire. For this reason, in addition to replacing the tubeless sealing liquid that is lost if we ride in areas where punctures are common.
It is advisable to dismount the wheel from time to time and remove the rubber residue that forms inside the wheel.
Tubeless liquid based on synthetic latex
Synthetic latex does not turn into rubber as fast as natural latex, we can better control its drying and fluidity. For example, it is suitable for use on roads, in the city or in less aggressive areas.
Since we will not have to replace the tubeless sealing liquid so often as we do not suffer losses due to punctures and we can lengthen the extraction of the formed rubber.
New formula Tubeless Liquid Migou Bcn
In Migou Bcn we are using a new formulation that mixes natural latex and synthetic latex. With this we get a very fluid and fast response liquid, while extending the life inside the tire.
It is a tubeless anti-puncture liquid that can be used both in MTB and road.
How long does the tubeless fluid last?
How to remove the tubeless liquid and how to clean the tire?
Whether there is liquid tubeless sealant or remains of solidified anti-puncture liquid inside the wheel, it is important to renew it at least twice a year.
One of the reasons for periodically changing the tubeless liquid is that a tubeless anti-puncture liquid that has been in the wheel for a long time, even if it is still liquid, loses its sealing properties.
A liquid that has been in the wheel for 6 months seals slower than one that has been in the wheel for 1 month.
Another reason is that rubber particles of different sizes are generated, which can clog the air valve.
Depending on how long a tire lasts, a more or less thorough cleaning will be necessary, since a cyclist who wears out the tire in 6 months is not the same as a cyclist who wears out the tire in 3 years.
If you are one of those whose tire lasts less than a telediario, simply remove all the old tubeless liquid.
Dry it well with a cloth or paper and put the anti-puncture liquid back in will be enough.
On the other hand, if the tire lasts a long time, it is important to empty all the old tubeless liquid.
Clean the inside of the tire well with isopropyl alcohol, let it dry and refill it with tubeless liquid.
If this is not done, we will leave traces of dry rubber inside the tire.
How much tubeless fluid does a 29″, a 27'5″ , a 26″ , a Gravel or a Road carry?
There is a minimum amount of tubeless liquid recommended for use in each type of tire.
Although depending on the area where we ride or if the weight does not matter much, it is better to use a little more.
If the tire is new, it is advisable to use twice as much the first time, since the tire has pores that need to be sealed.
Quantity of 29″ Mtb tubeless liquid.
It is advisable to use at least 60 ml of anti-puncture liquid on already used wheels.
Quantity of 27'5″ and 26″ Mtb tubeless liquid.
It is advisable to use at least 50 ml of anti-puncture liquid on already used wheels.
On 27'5″ plus tires typical of electric Mtb use 100ml.
Quantity of tubeless liquid Road
It is recommended to use at least 30 ml of tubeless liquid on used wheels.
Quantity of Gravel tubeless liquid
It is recommended to use at least 40 ml of used tubeless tire fluid.
And you also tend to lose a lot of tubeless liquid when beading.
Anti-puncture liquid or gel for bicycles
On the market there are formulations of anti-puncture sealant in liquid or gel form.
Normally the anti-puncture gel is heavier since it is necessary to introduce more quantity because it does not flow so easy and fast.
In anti-puncture tubes, gel is usually used instead of liquid for bicycle tubes.
Since it must last for the whole life of the tube, it is more resistant to drying and it is not necessary to buy tubeless liquid for maintenance.
Drying is not a problem in tubeless tires since we can perform the maintenance and change the anti-puncture liquid for bicycles.
But as a general rule it is more effective a less dense liquid for punctures, since when suffering a small puncture and therefore loss of air.
The bicycle puncture fluid will move to the hole and plug it more quickly and effectively.
Change or put anti-puncture liquid for bicycle inner tubes
There are tubes that you can remove the valve core or valve core and thus introduce anti-puncture liquid for tubes.
The liquid Migou bcn is suitable for use as anti-puncture liquid for bicycle inner tubes.
We can help us of a syringe for liquid wheels bicycle and thus introduce the liquid for punctures bicycles more easily.
Best tubeless road sealant
Tubeless on the road is becoming more and more popular, especially with the 28 size and for its rolling comfort.
The difference between a road tire and a mountain tire is the air pressure inside.
That is why the liquid that we use as anti-puncture road bike must be prepared to act as sealing liquid tubeless road.
In principle, anti-puncture liquid is not used for tubular tires, since the pressure is so high that it does not work well.
MTB tubeless fluid may not be suitable for use as road tubeless fluid.
On the other hand, road bike puncture protection fluid will work as tubeless tire fluid for mtb tubeless tires.
Tubeless sealant kit
The kit consists of bicycle puncture repair fluid plus syringe for bicycle puncture repair fluid.
The format we currently sell is 1L, soon we will launch the 5 liters tubeless liquid format for workshops or groups.
The 1 liter tubeless liquid format for bicycle tires is the best value for money for an individual.
